Brisbane, QLD. c. 1945. Starboard bow view of HMAS Kanimbla, a Landing Ship Infantry (LSI), about to berth. Her decks are crowded with her crew and Australian soldiers either returning from the Pacific at the end of World War 2 or being transported to take part in one of the island campaigns against the Japanese. Note the Landing Craft Infantry (LCI) hanging from her starboard side and the dazzle camouflage paint scheme covering the ship. A type 271 surface search radar lantern is fitted above the bridge and a single 2 pounder AA gun is fitted in the bridge wings. 20mm Oerlikon AA guns are fitted in her bows and above her bridge. An early air search radar is fitted to the foremast.
