Description

Sydney, NSW. 1957-09. A convoy of RAAF trucks, transporting examples of enemy and allied rockets and small arms, parked on the side of a road at Bondi Beach. During its journey from the Weapons Research and Development Establishment at Salisbury SA to the Australian War Memorial at Canberra the convoy paused regularly to give the public an opportunity to view the weapons. Note the German V2 rocket (left rear) on its original towed transporter and elevating mechanism. Note also the Owen sub-machine gun and smaller rockets displayed on the back of the trucks at right.
