History / Summary
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1878 Edward Harvey Statham grew up in England with his family at Beechfield, Alderley Edge in Cheshire. After leaving school he undertook training as a banker. In 1902, aged 24, Statham migrated to Western Australia. On the 21 August 1914 he enlisted as a Private in 11 Battalion, with the number 104. He was among those who landed on the first day of the Gallipoli campaign on 25 April 1915. He was killed in action on the same day at the age of 37.
