Description
A soldier is weighed down by mail bags and parcels from home, as he trudges forward. Two of the bags are labelled 'G.R.' with a British crown above them. The bags hang form his neck, waist, ankles and hands. The '17.FCE' label on two of the bags indicates that the soldier was from the 17th Field Company. A dog runs before him, and he is smoking a cigarette. The insignia on his left arm represents the 1st Division Engineers, and he has two stripes on his sleeve, indicating that he had been wounded twice. His head and feet are depicted as significantly larger than his body.
This drawing has been attributed to Louis Vasco.
