Madang, New Guinea, 1944-12-25. Outdoors group portrait of members of the Officers' Mess, Headquarters, RAAF Northern Command (NORCOM), on Christmas Day. Sitting in the centre of the group with noone in front of him is the Commanding Officer (CO), an Air Commodore. The group also includes: Group Captain A.L. Walters (third row, eighth from left), who soon took over as CO; an attached lieutenant colonel of the Australian Army (third row, sixth from left); 82586 Flying Officer Allen Robert Griffiths, Administrative and Special Duties (A&SD) Intelligence (second row, ninth from left); several attached RAN officers (second and front rows, left).
