VE Day Commemoration
Description
A poster produced by 'Australia Remembers 1945-1995' to commemorate VE Day celebrations that marked the end of the Second World War in Europe. The poster is comprised of a photograph of Australian and British crew of bomber 'V for Victory' as they celebrate VE Day in France on May 8, 1945. Three of the airmen are holding up the front page of a newspaper that declares 'VICTORY/ Nazis Reveal Surrender To Western Allies, Russia'. Australia Remembers, 1945-1995 was a program of activities organised to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II, culminating in key national ceremonies held in Brisbane on 15 August 1995 to mark the 50th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific.
