South Vietnam, 1971. Troops of the 2nd Battalion 1st Regiment of the Army of the Republic of South Vietnam (ARVN), patrolling paddy fields in the area known as "The Street Without Joy". In the left foreground is Lieutenant "Digger" O'Dell, US Marine Corps (USMC). O'Dell was a member of the US Military Assistance Command Vietnam (MACV). He and 28324 Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Brian E. Betts, Australian Army Training Team Vietnam (AATTV) were posted to this ARVN unit as military instructors. (Donor B. Betts)
