Description
Perth, WA? c. 1945. Douglas C47 Dakota transport aircraft bearing RAAF serial number A65-71, call sign VH-CIN and No. 37 Squadron RAAF code OM-N. The aircraft is banking steeply over an airfield which closely resembles Guilford, the civil airfield at Perth. On 6 July 1945 this aircraft flew the body of the late Prime Minister of Australia John Curtin from Canberra to Perth for burial (see AWM photographs 110561 and 110562). This aircraft was transferred to the AWM in 1980 but is maintained and still flown by the RAAF.
