Korea, c. 1950-12. Carrying a large bundle on her back, a Korean peasant woman helps her young daughter to walk on large stepping stones across a narrow stream. With a blanket of winter snow lying on either side of the stream, both mother and child are warmly dressed against the cold weather. Partly visible in the background (right) is a jeep bearing the letters 'Aust. FIKMA' and the word 'Korea' below them. The abbreviation stands for 'Australian Forces in Korea Maintenance Area'.
