Description

Two Japanese prisoners held at the RAN War Criminal Compound at an RAN shore base are playing table tennis. The ping pong table is set up in the recreation room at the compound. Work on this RAN base commenced in August 1948. It was commissioned as HMAS Seeadler on 1 January 1950 and recommissioned as HMAS Tarangau on 1 April 1950. The name was transferred from the decommissioned RAN Base at Dreger Harbour, New Guinea. (Navy Historical Collection)
