Description

The Cannone da 75/27 modello 06 was a field gun used by Italy during World War I and World War II. It was a license-built copy of the Krupp Kanone M 1906 gun. It had a horizontal sliding breech, gun shield, and mud guards. Elevation and traverse handwheels are located on the left side of the barrel. This example has been fitted with pressed steel wheels and rubber Pirelli tires, to modernize it for tractor towing. The gun has a box trail, which has corroded badly, is twisted about its axis and been filled with concrete. Its layer and loader seats (formerly wooden) are missing, and its cradle is badly corroded. It retains its panoramic telescopic sight holder, but this is extensively corroded. The entire gun has been painted with a gloss khaki. Inscription on face of breech reads: FRIED. KRUPP A.G. ESSEN 1906. A coat of arms may faintly be seen on the upper part of the barrel.
