Description
Chipyong-ni area, Korea, 1951-03. Wearing a pile cap, a cook from the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), boils the billy over an open fire at the IX Corps rest area where the battalion is taking a well-earned break from operations. The soldier is using a bunch of faggots hooked under the handle of the billy to hold it over the flames. At left, steam is issuing from the lid of a 44-gallon drum in which water is also being heated on the fire. (Donor I. Robertson)
