Description
Chipyong-ni area, Korea, 1951-03. A member of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), takes a bath in a 44-gallon petrol drum that has been cut open to turn it into a makeshift bathtub. The sides of the drum where it has been cut have been folded back to form flaps on one of which (right) the soldier's towel rests. Some American-made tents or hoochies are pitched at rear. Along with the rest of the battalion, the soldier is enjoying a well-earned break from operations at the IX Corps rest area. (Donor I. Robertson)
