Description
Haramura area, Honshu, Japan, c. 1950-08-04. Members of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), sit among the exposed roots of a tree on a rocky hillside as they listen to a map-reading lesson which the soldier standing at left is conducting. A number of maps are lying on the ground or are in the soldiers' hands. Most of the soldiers are smoking cigarettes. They are at Haramura, BCOF's main field training centre, to take part in Exercise Experimental in preparation for 3RAR's move to Korea. (Donor I. Robertson)
