c. 1 May 1945. Leading Aircraftman Lyle Stubbs of Collingwood, Vic and Leading Aircraftman Charlie Swift of Glen Iris, Vic, repairing a Consolidated B24 Liberator bomber aircraft of No. 21 (City of Melbourne) Squadron RAAF. This aircraft had been flown back to its base in North Western Australia after being damaged by enemy action whilst covering the landing of Australian troops at Tarakan, Borneo.
