Description
Collection relating to Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Archibald Frank “Frank” Redhead, 23rd Battalion. Original inscription reads, ‘Beautiful view of landing place of the Australians taken about two and a half months after first landing. Remember this was virgin land before Australians dug it up.’ 2nd Lt Redhead, a bookkeeper of Wagga Wagga, NSW, enlisted in January 1915. His two brothers, 11 Farrier Sergeant John William Redhead 2nd DHQ; and 1720 Sergeant (Sgt) Mark Redhead 55th Battalion AIF enlisted later in 1915. 2nd Lt Frank Redhead was killed in action on 6 May 1917.
