A crew of a Lockheed Hudson aircraft from No 2 Squadron RAAF, alongside one of the other Squadron aircraft (A16-241). Left to right: 411985 Sergeant (Sgt, later Pilot Officer [PO]) Trevor William Bassan, Wireless Air Gunner (WAG) of Woy Woy NSW; 411904 Sgt (later Flight Sergeant [Flt Sgt]) Harold Herbert Keith Hadley, WAG of Mona Vale NSW; 404524 Pilot Officer (PO, later Flight Lieutenant [Flt Lt]) Fred Ronald Winzar, Observer of Townsville Qld; 405637 Flying Officer (FO) Keith Rosslyn Mills, Pilot of Brisbane Qld; 409551 PO (later FO) Noel Edward John of Sydney NSW. All of the above crew, excepting Flt Lt Winzar (who was not part of the flight), were lost as a result of a probable mid-air collision between Hudson aircraft A16-183 and A16-197 on 20 April 1943, flying out of Millingimbi Station NT. The Lockheed Hudson behind them, (constructors no. 6494) is A16-241, which on 28 April 1943, seven weeks after this photograph was taken, failed to return from a search for the crew of a missing Beaufighter. A16-241's crew were FO Ralph R James, Sgt Roy E Norris, PO Ronald D Ryan, Flight Sergeant (Flt Sgt) Kenneth D Keech, Flt Sgt Patrick S Reen, and a member of 2 Squadron's ground crew, Warrant Officer Harry E Cutten.
