Apoka Valley, Papua. 1943-02. The 750-bed Port Moresby Evacuation Hospital under construction. Construction began on 1943-02-03 and the hospital was wholly constructed, apart from roads and water reservoirs, by the 135th Medical Regiment, U.S. Army. The hospital was run by the 135th with close co-ordination with the Australian Army Medical Corps.
