Description

Collection relating to NX76556 Lieutenant Rae Norman Nixon, 8 Division Signals. The collection is comprised of material collected by Nixon relating to his imprisonment in various camps along the Burma Thailand railway during the Second World War. News clippings, correspondence and written accounts are included. The collection also contains a notebook containing the A Force Signals nominal roll and sketches of costumes designed by Nixon for the prisoners of war theatre productions at Tamarkan POW camp. Other papers comprise notes compiled by Nixon on the work carried out by Dr Christoffel Jacobus van Boxtel with other doctors in POW camps on the Burma Thailand Railway.
