Description
This print features a Coat of Arms for the soldiers known as the Rats of Tobruk. The motto reads NON FASCES SED FAECES which is Latin for "Do not move but the dregs". Australian painter, sculptor and teacher John Dowie (1915-2008) SX6087 served with the 2/43rd battalion during the second world war. He was seconded to work in the Military History Unit of the AIF and as assistant to the official war artist Lyndon Dadswell.
