'AIF Abroad': Some Recollections of My War Years 1939 to 1945' describes Daintree's life beginning with his early life, then going on to his schooling, pre-war career as a teacher and then as a trainee manager with Woolworths, his training and membership of 18 Battalion CMF and 25 Battalion CMF, his enlistment with the AIF and work with 2/13 Battalion, mainly in the Middle East, his wounding and rehabilitation, his work as Commanding Officer of NSW Lines of Communication Area Leave and Transit Depot, and his post-war career with the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration in Austria.
