Monfalcone, Italy. C. 1945-04. During an attack on shipbuilding yards at Monfalcone in north-east Italy, an RAF Liberator aircraft was hit by bombs falling from an aircraft above damaging the inner port engine. After dropping its bombs on the target, the damaged Liberator flew 300 miles back to base and landed safely.
