Description

Vietnam. 1968. GEODAR vehicle and antenna devised by the Australian Field Operations Research Section (FORS) to detect tunnels and to give an indication of their size, depth and contents. It was a radar device which sent out a short pulse every millisecond and received reflection from underground objects of air interfaces, in the same manner as a conventional radar sees objects in air. An oscilloscope read-out showed the returned wave form and a chart recording was made to show the characteristic signatures of targets.
