India. C. 1944-08. Wing Commander H. Burberry at Lahore, Cantonement, India, receiving the American DFC from Brigadier General William D. Old, at a ceremony held behind the Burma front. Altogether five Wing Commanders of the RAF received the same award for the part they played in the organisation and movements of loaded transports during the Wingate airborne invasion of Burma.
