Hiro, Japan. 1952-10-18. Officers and their Japanese women friends who attended a dance held at the Headquarters Australian Army Components Sergeants Mess. Left to right: Sergeant (Sgt) L. W. Annand; Sgt R. C. Stuart; Warrant Officer 1 M. L. Partridge; Sgt R. Finlay; Staff Sergeant G. W. H. Davis (all from 6 Australian Advance 2nd Echelon), and Staff Sergeant R. J. Gilligan, Royal Australian Army Service Corps. This was the first time Japanese wives and friends of mess members were invited to such a function.
