Dam for Hoi My DPR/TV/1279
Description
Australian troops in South Vietnam are helping the villagers of Hoi My (Hoy Mee) to build a dam. The dam is to keep salt water out of the rice paddi. The Australians are providing equipment for the villagers to build the dam under the self-help programme and are transporting it and the local workers to the site, in the shadow of the Long Hai (Long High) Hills, in armoured personnel carriers. In addition to the guns of the carriers, protection is provided by Vietnamese Regional Force soldiers.
