Australians in heavy battle: roll 3 and second part of roll 4 DPR/TV/1167
Thirty eight Australian soldiers were wounded and one killed when 'A' Company 5RAR on Operation Camden engaged in a fierce battle with elements of Viet Cong 274 Regiment entrenched in a complex bunker system in the Hat Dich area .Roll 3. Shows the one Australian killed in action being lifted out by an Iroquois helicopter. The more slightly wounded soldiers being evacuated by Iroquois. These wounded men had remained in the field overnight. The helicopter had also delivered water re-supplies. Roll 4. Centurion Armoured Recover Vehicle (ARV) fires .30 calibre Browning machine gun into enemy area. Tanks moving in further into the jungle, filmed from turret of a Centurion. 29730 Sergeant Brian (Buck) Rogers of Holsworthy, NSW, shown a wearing head band, is the first man into the bunkers. Tanks move in closer through the jungle as the infantry pushed through. Soldiers looking into the bunkers.
