Description

The Australian Army's Quartermaster-General, Major-General M. F. Brogan, this week completes a visit to Australian troops in Vietnam. A few days ago General Brogan flew by helicopter into fire support base Kwinana, north of Nui Dat, as part of a tour to the 1st Australian Task Force. General Brogan was keen to move around the fire support base and talk to the troops manning the weapon pits. He took particular notice of rations made available to the troops, and decided a personal sample was the best way of judging. The rations were typical of those issued to all Australian troops on operations in South Vietnam. After talking to officers at the fire support base, General Brogan, accompanied by the Commander of the 1st Australian Task Force, Brigadier R. Hughes of Brisbane, Qld, rejoined the RAAF helicopter to continue his tour of Task Force units in Phuoc Tuy Province, South Vietnam. General Brogan now has almost completed his tour of South Vietnam and he will fly back to Australia later this week. (Also identified: Sergeant Trevor Hewitt of Inverbrackie, SA; Private Neville Robinson of Brisbane, Qld; Corporal Zac Sady of Melbourne, Vic; CO of 3 RAR Lt-Col J. J. Shelton.)
