Germany. C. 1945-05. The crew of an RAAF Lancaster aircraft examine the wreckage of a German Heinkel III aircraft on an airfield near Frankfurt. They are engaged in the repatriation of Australian and Allied liberated prisoners of war (POWs) from Europe back to England after VE Day (1945-05-08). This was known as Operation Exodus.
