Description
Diary relating to the Second World War service of QX6141 Lieutenant Maurice Grant Boydell, 2/1st Anti-Tank Regiment, 21 June 1941 - 12 February 1943.
The first of four diaries kept by Boydell during the period 21 June 1941 - 12 February 1943. In this diary Boydell documents everyday life as an internee at several prisoner of war camps in Germany including Oflag V-B at Biberach, Oflag X-C at Lübeck and Oflag VII-B at Eichstätt. Common subjects covered include the weather, general treatment of prisoners, letters sent to and received from Australia, rations and Red Cross parcels, transfers between camps, escape attempts by prisoners, rumours amongst the men and notable events such as the capitulation of Singapore.
