Description
Letters relating to the Second World War service of QX6893 Private Archie Douglas Briggs, 2/15 Australian Infantry Battalion. This collection contains twelve letters written by Briggs to his sister Dorrie between August 1940 and 17 April 1941. In his letters, he describes training in Darwin, the voyage to the Middle East, camp life in Palestine and operations in the Western Desert in February 1941. The letters also include detailed descriptions of Brigg's relationship with his family. Other items in the collection include two letters of condolence; one written by Lieutenant Harland after Brigg's death during night patrol on the Tobruk perimeter, 20 April 1941 and the other from the Millas Millas Comforts Fund.
