Curby, Suzanne (Australian Federal Police)
Collection relating to the service of Suzanne (Sue) Curby, Australian Federal Police, Papua New Guinea, 2004-2005.
Wallet 1 of 1 - Consists of a letter Curby received from Grace Lukwa Lukwa on 30 June 2005. The letter, written in Tok Pisin (New Guinea Pidgin), expresses very fond wishes for Curby.
Sue Curby was among the first contingent of Australian Federal Police officers to deploy to Papua New Guinea in November 2004. Grace Lukwa Lukwa worked as Curby's "haus meri" (house girl, or house keeper) during the six-moth deployment. The two formed a close friendship and continued to correspond for a period after Curby had returned to Australia. The letter sent in June 2005 is an example of the strong connections made between peacekeepers and locals.
