Description
Collection relating to the Vietnam War service of Private Brian John Cleaver, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3 RAR), Vietnam, 1968.
Collection consists of two digital files (one each of PDF and Word format) of a typed 56 page manuscript entitled "Narrative: Operation 'Toan Thang Phase 11'" that details Cleaver's involvement in the Battle of Coral-Balmoral (Coral and Balmoral Fire Support Patrol Bases) in May 1968 in Vietnam. In this account Cleaver retrospectively recollects his experiences of the battles including the establishment of the bases, defensive measures taken by the Australian troops, attacks by enemy soldiers, the involvement of the United States military in defence of both Coral and Balmoral and the aftermath of the attacks. The manuscript includes images and maps.
A printed version of the manuscript has been included in the collection for ease of access.
