Description
This item consists of translations of various orders given to the South East Area Army and the South East Area Fleet by the Australian forces. Issues are discussed include the formal procedures for surrender, instruments of surrender, provision of information on numerical strength and locations of Japanese forces in New Guinea, Bougainville, New Ireland and New Britain Islands, procedures for disarmament, movements of Japanese servicemen to designated camp sites, construction of Japanese camps, treatment of remaining weapons and ammunitions, provisions and self-sufficiency, hygiene and sanitation, military discipline, communication, the number of patients and their symptoms and so on.
