Autographed presentation scrapbook relating to Albert Jacka, 1916-1918
Autographed presentation scrapbook relating to the First World War service of 465 Captain Albert Jacka, 14th Australian Infantry Battalion, September 1916 - May 1918
The Williamstown, Newport and Spotswood Anzac Club organised this 'presentation volume' as a tribute to the gallantry of Albert Jacka. Lady Helen Munro Ferguson, wife of the Governor General and patron of the Anzac Club, was the first person to sign the presentation volume on 2 September 1916. Over the following eighteen months more than 100 people signed the scrapbook, sharing messages of support often written in verse and referencing family members that served or died during the First World War. Amongst these inscriptions are several messages from members of Jacka's immediate and extended family.
The presentation scrapbook also includes two embellished illustrations accompanied by poems from Leuname, and a variety paintings, sketches and clippings that often feature themes of Australiana.
