Description
Photographs relating to VX14741 Private Francis Ernest Emslie, 2/7 Battalion. From Croydon, Victoria, Emslie enlisted on 10 May 1940. Serving with the 2/7 Battalion, he was captured on Crete and officially reported as a prisoner of war on 30 Octpber 1941. Private Emslie was sent to Stalag VIIA, Moosburg before also spending time in Stalag VIIIB (later Stalag 344), Lamsdorf. At the end of the war, he returned to Australia and was dicharged on 20 July 1945. Images include informal portraits, prisoner volleyball match, camp scenes.
