VIETNAM. 1968. IN-FLIGHT VIEW OF A SPRAY BOOM AND TWIN M60 GENERAL PURPOSE MACHINE GUN (GPMG) MOUNT FITTED TO A UH-1B HELICOPTER OF NO. 9 SQUADRON RAAF. IN ABOUT 1968-08 AND 1969-01, CAPTAIN JOHN CECIL RHODES, 1ST FIELD HYGIENE COMPANY, AUSTRALIAN ARMY MEDICAL CORPS (AAMC), CONDUCTED CROP DESTRUCTION AND DEFOLIATION OPERATIONS ON THE NUI DAT PERIMETER AND IN THE THUIA TIC AREA, WHERE A MIXTURE OF AGENT ORANGE, AGENT BLUE AND WATER WERE SPRAYED OVER CORN AND MAIZE CROPS. THE MISSIONS WERE CARRIED OUT WITH RAAF HELICOPTERS WITH 4 MAN CREWS, 30 GALLON TANKS AND SPRAY BOOMS. (ORIGINAL HOUSED IN AWM ARCHIVE STORE)
