SHAVER DEMONSTRATES DESALINISATION PROCEDURES DEVELOPED AT THE INSTITUTE FOR PERSONS ADRIFT IN LIFE RAFTS KNOWN AS THE PERMUTTI-NRMI METHOD. A BRIQUETTE IS DROPPED INTO A PLASTIC BAG CONTAINING SEA WATER AND AFTER KNEADING AND FILTERING PRODUCES POTABLE WATER. HERE THE DESALINATED WATER IS DRUNK FROM THE BAG. (NAVAL HISTORICAL COLLECTION).
