Description
Group portrait of seven crew members of 156 Squadron in front of their Avro Lancaster. Identified back row, second from left is 430661 Warrant Officer (WO) Geoffrey Vernon Leicester of Melbourne, Victoria. WO Leicester enlisted on 26 February 1943 and served with the Royal Air Force’s elite Pathfinder force in 156 Squadron (8 Group Pathfinder) flying Vickers Wellingtons and subsequently Avro Lancasters. The Pathfinder Force played a major role in Bomber Command’s European offensive as target-marking squadrons.
