Diary relating to the First World War service of Colonel Rupert Major Downes, Australian Army Medical Corps. This diary written between 26 March and 2 July 1919 covers: the time he waited in Port Said for his boat to England; the people he met in London, his work as a clinical assistant at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children; the other hospitals and surgeons he visits while in London; his visit to the Western Front and his return voyage home.
