COLLINGWOOD BAY, NEW GUINEA. THE CORVETTE HMAS BROOME PREPARING TO TOW THE GROUNDED MERCHANT VESSEL COORABIE OFF A SHOAL. A TOWING HAWSER HAS BEEN PASSED BY BOAT TO THE STRANDED SHIP AND IS BEING SECURED ABOARD THE BROOME. NOTE THE LAYOUT OF THE BROOME'S SWEEP DECK. KITE/OTTERS AND THE FLOAT OF THE OROPESA MINESWEEPING GEAR ARE ON THE LEFT. ON THE STERN ARE THE MINESWEEPING DAVITS AND A PAIR OF DEPTH CHARGES. (NAVAL HISTORICAL COLLECTION).
