Crisp, Cecil Hugo George (Sergeant)
Description
Collection relating to Sergeant Cecil Crisp who served with 53 Battalion in France during the First World War. Collection consists of letters, postcards and telegrams written home to family 1915 - 1919. The letters describe training; leave; active service in France; and his longing to return home. He also mentions 'hopovers'; air raids on London; the fighting spirit of Australians and Germans; and trench conditions. Letters reveal his development from a youth to a battle hardened NCO. The collection also contains a transcript of the letters and a photographic portrait of Sgt. Crisp.
