5 RAR in Vietnam on familiarisation trip to Dong Nai River DPR/TV/373

Twenty members of the advanced party of 5 RAR were taken on a familiarisation trip in 1 RAR Tactical Area of Responsibility. The aim was to introduce the men to woking with the M113 Armoured personnel carriers and to rural Vietnam. The M113s travelled across typical paddy farm land and through Ong Huong village. To demonstrate the capability of the M113's .50 cal machine gun M113 firing was conducted into War Zone "D".
