A wagon-load of dismembered ghosts, Najaf, study for 'Najaf, Iraq, June 1991'
Description
Kevin Connor's drawing depicts the lives lost and ruin to the city of Najaf, Iraq, at the end of the Gulf War in 1991. A man wheeling a wagon in the lower half of the drawing collects charred figures, 'dismembered ghosts', the city is seen in the upper half of the composition. This drawing was a study for Kevin Connor's renowned painting that won the Sulman Prize, 'Najaf, Iraq, June 1991'.
