"The Frontier of Freedom". Personal experiences as a soldier during 1966 and discussion of service in Vietnam with the Australian forces. Provides detailed and often humorous description of his enlistment and training, interspersed with concurrent activities in Vietnam during his period of pre embarkation training and then posting to No. 1 Australian Reinforcement Unit working with 6 Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment (RAR). Comments on the activities of 5 RAR, 6 RAR and later 7 RAR and on Rest and Recreation (R&R) in Singapore. Joins 7 RAR in May 1966. Fairly detailed descriptions of weapons used, tactics, deployment and attitudes to the local Vietnamese, bar girls and members of the Viet Cong Forces etc
