Description
Lee-Metford .22 Short Mk I Training Rifle. Receiver stamped right side VR SPARKBROOK 1891 I* and left side ENFIELD 1910 Sht .22 I. The butt has a BIRMINGHAM 1905 roundel over I* and RMC 26. The magazine cut-off plate and long range sights have been removed, a new .22 calibre barrel fitted, and the fore-end shortened by about 60 mm, with the original Lee-Metford nosecap and front band re-fitted. It has a Mk III S.M.L.E. rear sight with windage adjustment, a modified Mk I rear handguard with the sight protector and foresight similar to that of the Charger Loading Lee-Enfield marked .22.
