Description

RAAF chest pack parachute with four canvas carrying handles sewn onto the back. All edging seams are reinforced with canvas tape and there are two chrome loops attached to the back of the parachute. On the front of the pack is a elasticised pocket to hold the D-ring and a panel with three stud fasteners protecting the release mechanism. The front of the pack also has the maker's white cotton label marked 'DOMINION PARACHUTE manufactured by LIGHT AIRCRAFT PTY. LTD. SYDNEY AUSTRALIA TWO POINT QUICK CONNECTION LAP PACK WITH DUAL PURPOSE QUICK RELEASE HARNESS'. 'SERIAL No 5316/DATE 14 MAY 1942/INSPECTED BY- MAKERS DPp9/R.A.A.F'. The label also has the kangaroo Dominion Parachute logo to the left side.
