105 mm Type 92 (1932) Field Gun
The 105 mm Type 92 (1932) Field Gun is readily recognized by its long slender barrel and trail. The recoil mechanism is hydro-pneumatic in which the air is in direct contact with the liquid in the recuperator. The breech block is of a screw, stepped thread tapered design. The gun features a split trail and is mounted on heavily constructed wooden wheels with solid rubber tyres. Three spades are provided for each trail for added stabilisation during firing. The elevating hand wheel is at the right of the breech. The traversing hand wheel and panoramic sight attachment are at the left. The screw breech block, six spade brackets, sighting brackets, elevation handles and panoramic sight are missing. The gun is painted in dark green and the rims of the wheels are painted red. Japanese cyphers and arsenal marks are present on the breech (Showa 17).
Designed for long range fire. Normally tractor drawn. Range of 18.7 km.
