Description
Commander Swan's memoirs covering his naval service. A cadet at Naval Academy, later in Merchant Navy, a midshipman in Naval Reserve, later joined P & O Company, mobilised into navy and continued there after the war. His account includes description of minesweeping operations, Australian coastal convoys, patrol and convoy duties, invasions, Arawe, Hollandia, Philippines, Tarakan, Labuan, Balikpapan. He served on the HMAS Doomba, Adelaide, Manoora, Westralia, Burdekin and later appointments with the Department of Defence.
