Seamans white duck jumper : SMS Emden, German Navy
Description
German Navy seaman's white duck jumper with an integral blue and white striped collar that extends down the back of the jumper. The v-neck is reinforced with extra rows of machine stitching. Two lengths of white cotton tape at the bottom of the 'V' are intended to be tied around the seaman's black scarf to secure it to the jumper. The cuffs and hem have blue and white cotton tape stitched over them. The inside bottom of jumper has a label 'Tannert', and red embroidery '11 m 472 B 1 L2'. There is also a black ink stamp which is mostly obscured.
